Recent Changes in My Life

It’s New Years Eve – 2016 – a New Year brings hope, expectation and new adventures. Often we look back at our last year and reflect on what was great and not so great.

Overall for me, I had an incredible year. However, I have always been one to look ahead and expect great things in the future.

Recently, I had a big life change. For the last two years or so – I have been running a company I started called NYC-Collective. NYC-Collective is a social media agency and we work with luxury and lifestyle brands. When I first got married to Parker – we were basically broke. (Not Kidding!) I remember once crying on the floor because we couldn’t go out to eat with our friends (Yes, I had an adult tantrum). Parker was incredible through this time and set up a budget, paid off debt, and we increased our tithe and prayed. At 3am one night, I had the idea to start NYC-Collective and then my friend Sunni introduced me to a few clients. We have worked with major brands such as Oscar Blandi, Morgans Hotel, Red Carpet Manicure, Watoto and many more. This job has been a huge blessing because it afforded me the opportunity to serve full time at church (about 20-30 hours a week, volunteering as a Pastor and running the social media), to go to speaking engagements, disciple 10 women, work in a creative agency, and reach people that were far from Jesus.

In March of 2015, I was able to hire my best friend Gracie. Gracie is an incredible organizer, creative, blogger and friend. I trust her with anything that is important to me. Over the last year, she has basically crushed it!

In November 2015, Paul Andrew asked me to come on full time staff at Liberty Church. We were given the opportunity to adopt another church in the city and Parker and I would lead and pastor that new community and Union Square. I would also be coming on as the Worship Director to lead the worship team of our multi campus church.

Right away, I knew the answer was YES!
In 2015, I moved to New York City to reach people far from Jesus, restore hope, and build the local church. However, after my response – fear crept in.

Over the next week, I would lay in bed awake wondering “What will I do with my business that I built?” , “Can I really be the Worship Director?”, “Am I able to lead anyone?”. All the insecurities, all the fear, all the self doubt crept in.

Then I read:
Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

– 2 Corinthians 12:10

I remembered that this was Gods plan all along. My life that is. My life is His plan and I live for His purpose. I think sometimes we are so afraid of messing up our calling and purpose we take no risk at all. We avoid change.

We wait for God to appear in our room and give us a sign.

Here is the sign:
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. – Matt 6:33

I know I am seeking the Kingdom of God above all else. In change, in transition, I can trust Him because he will give me everything I need.
