We Are Not Locked Down

I’m reading a book called “Gates of Fire” right now. It’s about the battle that took place at Thermopylae in 480BC. The story was popularized by the movie “300”. It’s an excellent read.

•••

There is one main question as a philosophical theme of the book, “What is the opposite of fear?” Or in Greek the “Phobos”.

•••

Currently, we have an overreaching governor in California who would use fear to trample on the liberty of the people he was chosen to to serve.

•••

The individual, is the smallest minority. This concept is rooted in the imago dei. That all men and women are made in the image of God, so therefore have inherent value, and are individual persons apart from a tribe or group. They are not to be owned, murdered, shut up, or robbed of property or liberty. And even in cases with severe disability, this still holds true. (No society but Christendom brought this to bear in common law)

•••

So, we have been ordered to stay in our homes like Newsom is our parent. And to wear a mask on almost every occasion. To stay away from each other when we need each other most during the holidays.

•••

These policies, and the precedent that they set, are dangerous and stupid. “Let’s lockdown again because the first one didn’t work”? Meanwhile those in the “capital” have lavish dinner parties next to health department execs in California.

•••

This is an obvious ruse to rob you of your liberties. To see how much you’ll put up with. The things that hold us together and give us a sense of community and freedom are at the center of the crosshairs.

Family

Church

Local Businesses

Gyms

Locally, we can win this fight. It start with the family, and then when enough families unite, the church can stand as a bulwark against this clear and present danger to our liberties. If the church stands up as she should, businesses will be free to operate and livelihoods will not be destroyed. 39,000 small businesses have closed in California due to the pandemic. Lives will be destroyed, and the freedom to start again, which is quintessentially American, may be taken away as well.

Let me ask you believer. What is the opposite of fear? Look to the word, and look family. Fight.
